A woman in the UK had to change her name due to Apple’s latest iOS update. Siri Price, a fitness trainer from Edinburgh, said that iPhones would respond every time someone called out her name. As a result, she is now known as Siz among her friends. Price mentioned that when her friends used the phrase “Hey Siri” to call her, Apple’s voice-activated digital assistant would be triggered. She shared her frustration, stating that even mentioning her name now activates people’s devices. Price revealed that her name Siri means “beautiful woman who leads you to victory” in Old Norse, while Apple’s acronym stands for ‘Speech Interpretation and Recognition Interface’. Although she hoped Apple would have chosen a different name, the company has not provided any response on the matter. A similar incident occurred in the US, where a woman named Alexa Seary had a full name that triggered two digital assistants, causing her significant inconvenience.
