The White House was illuminated with blue and white lights in support of Israel after the attacks by Hamas that resulted in the death of as many as 800 people, according to The Hill. The gesture was made in response to a call by Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) as a symbolic demonstration of support during the Israel-Hamas conflict. The move symbolizes the strong support and solidarity of the American people with Israel, as the White House noted the 75-year long relationship between the two countries. Other landmarks around the world, including the Eiffel Tower, the Empire State building, and the Sydney Opera House, have also been lit up in the colors of Israel as a show of solidarity. The conflict between Israel and Hamas has resulted in over 900 deaths and 2,400 wounded, with Israel hitting numerous targets in Gaza and mobilizing 300,000 troops. In addition, the Israeli military has deployed troops against suspected infiltration from Lebanon and continues to carry out airstrikes against Hamas targets.
