A man in China died after participating in a work drinking contest where he consumed a litre of strong liquor in just 10 minutes. The contest was organized by his boss during a team-building dinner, with a prize of 20,000 yuan (Rs 2,28,506) for anyone who could outdrink the man, named Zhang. The incident occurred in July and Zhang collapsed soon after consuming the alcohol. He was rushed to the hospital but was diagnosed with severe alcohol poisoning, aspiration pneumonia, suffocation, and cardiac arrest. Sadly, Zhang passed away on August 3. The company has since announced its closure and the police are investigating the incident. This tragic incident adds to a series of similar incidents in China, where individuals have lost their lives to alcohol poisoning. This has led to increased scrutiny of the safety and regulations surrounding such activities.
