Israel recently declassified more than 30 secret government and military orders that it claims to show efforts to minimize civilian deaths in the Gaza Strip—evidence the country says rebuts South Africa’s genocide allegations at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The court is set to deliver an initial ruling on Friday that would determine whether it has jurisdiction over the case and whether the acts South Africa has accused Israel of committing could potentially fall under the scope of the 1948 Genocide Convention.
