The deadly fight between Israel and Hamas continues to rage, with over 3,000 lives claimed so far. Hamas surprised Israel by launching 5,000 rockets from Gaza, and visuals from the region show continuous air strikes from both sides, resulting in destroyed buildings and towns turned to rubble. On Tuesday, rockets were fired from Gaza towards the Ashkelon province, just 10 kilometers from the Israeli border.

Even the hotel where the NDTV team has been staying while reporting from ground zero was hit by rockets on Tuesday evening. Although the team managed to escape unhurt, their vehicle was partially damaged.

Videos from Ashkelon show the sky filled with rocket trails as the Iron Dome air defense system intercepts and neutralizes dozens of air strikes with precision. People on the ground scramble for shelter as the rockets are shot down by Israel.

Hamas, a Palestinian group, started the conflict by launching a barrage of rockets against Israel under Operation Al-Aqsa Flood. In response, the Israel military implemented a brutal retaliation, cutting off food, water, and gas to the Palestinian region. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vowed to reduce Hamas’ sites in Gaza to rubble with the goal of ending the war that Israel claims it did not start.
