Actors Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have reached a temporary child custody agreement amid their divorce. A court order dictates that Turner and Jonas will have alternating custody of their one-year-old and three-year-old daughters for varying periods of one and a half to three weeks until January 7, according to USA Today.
From October 9 to October 21, Turner will have custody of the children. Following that, from October 21 to November 2, Jonas will have custody. During Thanksgiving, the children will be with Jonas, while Turner will have them for Christmas and New Year’s. The agreement allows each parent to temporarily travel with the children to any state in the US or the UK.
The agreement also requires both parents to submit a “status report letter” by December 23, detailing the status of their mediation.
This development comes after Turner filed a lawsuit against Jonas, seeking the return of their daughters to the UK. She accused Jonas of withholding their passports, preventing the girls from returning to their “forever home.” The complaint demanded the immediate return of the children, claiming they were wrongfully retained in New York City against their habitual residence in the UK. The court documents revealed that the couple had established England as their permanent residence in April 2023 to provide their children with an education in the country.
However, shortly after Turner’s complaint, Jonas released a statement refuting her claims and stating that they had reached an agreement to work on a co-parenting plan. The estranged couple subsequently agreed to keep their children in New York.
Jonas and Turner are currently going through a divorce after being married for four years. They tied the knot in 2019 after dating for nearly three years. Earlier this month, Jonas filed for divorce, citing an irretrievably broken relationship.
