A federal court in the United States has granted Tahawwur Rana, one of the accused in the 2008 Mumbai terror attack, more time to file his motion against extradition to India. Rana had previously appealed the denial of the writ of habeas corpus by a US District Court in California. The Ninth Circuit Court has agreed to his request for an extension, setting a new deadline for his motion on November 9. The government’s response will be due on December 11, 2023. Rana is facing multiple charges for his involvement in the Mumbai attacks, and he is associated with Pakistani-American terrorist David Coleman Headley, one of the main conspirators of the 26/11 strikes.
