Ashish Shelar, the BCCI’s honorary treasurer, has stated that India will not be wearing an alternate match kit during their ICC World Cup match against Pakistan on October 14. Shelar dismissed media reports claiming that India would be wearing a different kit, calling them baseless and the work of someone’s imagination. He confirmed that the Indian team would be sporting their traditional blue colors for the World Cup. In the previous World Cup in 2019, India did don an alternate kit to differentiate themselves from England, who also wore blue. Despite a promising start in the World Cup, with a victory over Australia, there were some unsavory incidents, such as a notorious social media influencer and serial pitch invader, Daniel Jarvis, breaching security and entering the field wearing India’s blue jersey. The ICC banned Jarvis from attending further matches, and investigations are underway to determine how he managed to breach multiple layers of security. This is the fourth time Jarvis has been able to breach security during a match involving India, causing embarrassment for both the ICC and BCCI.
