A man and woman were shot in Manhattan while walking their dog on Friday evening. Jacqueline Billini, 57, and Levaughn Harvin, 42, were fatally shot around 6:30 p.m. outside Highbridge Park in Upper Manhattan’s Washington Heights neighborhood, according to authorities. Their dog was also killed.
According to sources, the woman was shot in the head and neck, while the man was hit in the face and shoulder. Both victims were taken to Harlem Hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Police reported that the suspect fired six shots at the victims before fleeing the scene. Law enforcement believes that the shooter had prior contact with the victims and that they were deliberately targeted.
A source revealed that the couple had an ongoing dispute with the assailant involving their dog. Additionally, Jacqueline Billini had previously experienced a home invasion in April. During the incident, a man named Lenue Moore, who lived in the same building, broke into her home and assaulted her. He was later charged with assault and attempted burglary.
Neighbors also stated that Billini had an ongoing feud with Moore, as he had allegedly tried to harm her dog in the past. Due to concerns for her safety, she had asked her nephew, Levaughn Harvin, to accompany her as a bodyguard.
In a separate tragic incident, a family of four and their three dogs were found shot to death in their suburban Chicago home. Police discovered the bodies after conducting a welfare check. The suspect, believed to be responsible for the murders, was later found dead inside a burning car in Oklahoma.
