Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has spoken with the King of Jordan to discuss India ties amidst the controversy surrounding the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Trudeau’s office stated that he provided an update on the situation between Canada and India, emphasizing the importance of respecting the rule of law and the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. This follows Trudeau’s conversation with UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed about India and the rule of law. Trudeau expressed deep concern for civilian life and emphasized the need to uphold and respect the rule of law in India. Last month, Trudeau made the explosive charge that “Indian government agents” may be responsible for Nijjar’s shooting, which India vehemently denies. The Canadian Prime Minister has shared “credible allegations” with India and hopes to work constructively to resolve the matter. However, India has accused Canada of not acting upon specific evidence regarding criminal activities conducted by Canada-based individuals. The Center has advised caution for its nationals in Canada and those planning to travel there. Hardeep Singh Nijjar, the chief of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force, was shot dead outside a gurdwara in Canada’s British Columbia in June. He was one of India’s most wanted terrorists.
