India’s superstar cricketers traveled over 3,400km to play a Cricket World Cup warm-up match against the Netherlands in Thiruvananthapuram, but the game was abandoned due to heavy rain. This came after their scheduled match against England in Guwahati was also washed out. So far, three warm-up matches have been abandoned due to the weather, while three others have been affected by rain. The Netherlands also faced two washouts, including a match against Australia which ended in a no result. Fortunately, the weather forecast for the upcoming matches in Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, and Dharamsala is optimistic with sunshine expected. The tournament will begin on Thursday with England facing New Zealand in Ahmedabad. Pakistan will play against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on Friday, and Afghanistan will compete against Bangladesh in Dharamsala on Saturday. In other news, India’s men’s team achieved a 23-run victory against Nepal in their first Asian Games campaign, with opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scoring a maiden T20 century. Pakistan also advanced to the semi-finals with a 68-run victory over Hong Kong, thanks to all-rounder Khushdil Shah’s impressive performance. Although India’s first-choice players are absent due to their participation in the one-day World Cup, their second-string squad remains strong, consisting of talented young players who have excelled in the Indian Premier League and experienced international players.
