An Indian student studying at the London School of Economics has criticized some Indians abroad for being anti-India as a way to appear cool. Satyam Surana, who was captured on video picking up the national flag that had fallen on the ground during a protest by Khalistanis in London, expressed concern over the attacks on Indians and stated that these protests are meant to distract India from its growth. He emphasized the importance of keeping watch on individuals who speak ill about India without any knowledge, merely to portray themselves as nice people to those who hate India. Surana urged Indians to respond to such elements intellectually rather than physically. The incident was reported to the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and the Metropolitan Police by the Indian High Commission, who have received formal regrets from multiple community organizations and organizers of the protest, who have also called for action against those responsible.
