Iran has been funding Hamas’ operations, according to Israel’s envoy to the UN. The statement comes amid the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine, which escalated after Hamas launched a major attack on Israel from the Gaza Strip.

Israel’s representative to the UN, Gilad Erdan, stated that they are confident that Iran has been supporting Hamas’ operations, including the terrorist attack on Saturday that resulted in the deaths of over 600 Israelis and the injury of thousands more.

Erdan’s comment comes shortly after Iran’s President, Ebrahim Raisi, expressed Iran’s support for the Palestinians’ right to self-defense and criticized Israel for endangering the region. Raisi stated, “Iran supports the legitimate defense of the Palestinian nation,” and emphasized that Israel and its supporters are responsible for the region’s security risks.

Raisi called on Muslim governments to support the Palestinian nation and praised the efforts of Hamas and other groups in countries like Syria, Lebanon, and Iraq. It is worth noting that Iran had held talks with Hamas and Islamic Jihad leaders in June.

During these discussions, Raisi accused Israel of attempting to normalize ties with Arab and Muslim countries as a means to discourage young Palestinians from seeking to liberate the occupied territories.

It remains to be seen how the international community will respond to these developments.
