Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed India’s determination to host the 2036 Olympics during his speech at the 141st Session of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). He emphasized that India will spare no effort in organizing the grand event and stated that hosting the Olympics is a dream shared by 1.4 billion Indians. Furthermore, PM Modi revealed India’s desire to host the 2029 Youth Olympics as well.

Addressing the IOC delegation and other invitees at the Jio World Convention Centre, PM Modi stated, “Indians are very excited about hosting the Olympics Games. India will leave no stone unturned in organizing the 2036 Olympics.” He also expressed confidence that India would receive continuous support from the IOC.

During his speech, PM Modi underscored the importance of sports in India’s rich history, highlighting that nearly all festivals in the country have sporting events associated with them. He described sports as a universal spirit and emphasized that in sports, there are no losers, only winners and learners. He further emphasized that sports empower humanity and that record-breaking achievements are celebrated by all.

IOC President Thomas Bach also praised India’s economic and sporting progress, describing it as an inspiring place. He commended India’s performance at the Asian Games and expressed pride in the entire Olympic community in India.

President Bach discussed the inclusion of e-sports in the Olympic program, recognizing the importance of trusting the mindset of young people and empowering them. He also mentioned the formation of an AI working group, highlighting the impact that artificial intelligence will have on future Games. President Bach revealed that more details on this topic would be shared during the 141st IOC Session over the next two days. He further predicted that the Paris Olympics in 2024 will be the last Games of the pre-artificial intelligence era.
