Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar responded to Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s criticism of his frequent visits to the Congress-ruled state ahead of the assembly elections. During a campaign in Neemrana, Gehlot objected to the Vice President’s visits, stating that it would send the wrong message in the midst of an election season.
In response, Vice President Dhankhar emphasized the need for politicians in high positions to use responsible language. He expressed his belief that individuals holding constitutional positions should conduct themselves with dignity and refrain from making comments solely for political gain. Dhankhar called on everyone to show respect towards constitutional institutions and refrain from making indecent comments.
Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also questioned whether the Vice President required permission from the Chief Minister before visiting Rajasthan. Meanwhile, Gehlot has been actively campaigning across the state, visiting multiple districts and constituencies as part of his “Mission 2030” outreach. Additionally, he has included visits to prominent temples in his campaign schedule.
The Vice President’s message emphasizes the importance of treating constitutional functionaries with respect and avoiding the use of political lenses to score political points. It remains to be seen how Gehlot will respond to Dhankhar’s advice.
