Tamil actor Vishal’s corruption allegations against the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) have prompted a swift response from the ruling BJP. The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has dispatched a senior officer to Mumbai to conduct an inquiry into the matter. Vishal had claimed that he paid Rs 6.5 lakhs to the censor board for the certification of his film ‘Mark Antony’. The ministry has expressed its regret over the incident and stated that it has zero tolerance for corruption. It has also urged others who may have faced similar harassment by film board officials to come forward with their accounts. Vishal had posted a video addressing Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, revealing the names of two individuals from the censor board and sharing details of online bank transfers. He alleged that he sent Rs 3 lakh to the Tamilnad Mercantile Bank account of M Rajan and Rs 3.5 lakh to a Kotak Mahendra Bank account belonging to Jeeja Ramdas, both located in Mumbai. Vishal expressed his disbelief over corruption taking place in government offices and stated that he had no choice but to pay the mediator involved. He emphasized that his actions were not just for his own benefit, but for the future producers as well. The ministry has assured that strict action will be taken against anyone found guilty of corruption.
