The Australian diplomats at the Australian High Commission in Delhi indulged in a game of ‘Hindi Cricket Vocabulary’ to celebrate the ICC Cricket World Cup. The game involved diplomats from India and Australia guessing the Hindi words for cricket terms in English. Australian Ambassador to India, Philip Green, shared a video of the game on Twitter. Some of the words translated were ‘Ek Divasiya Antrashtriya’ (One Day International), ‘Ballebaaz’ (Batter), ‘Pagbadha’ (LBW), ‘Baahri Kinara’ (Outside Edge), ‘Firki gendbaaz’ (Spin bowler), ‘Ardhshatak’ (half-century), ‘Tikri’ (Hat Trick), and ‘Dande aur Gilliyan’ (Stumps and Bails). Despite being on opposing teams, the diplomats emphasized that they were one team at the High Commission. India and Australia will face each other in their opening match of the World Cup in Chennai. India recently defeated Australia in a three-match ODI series, which is seen as a confidence booster.
