A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly sharing morphed private pictures of his live-in partner on social media platforms. Sanjay Kumar, who was in a relationship with his 24-year-old girlfriend, derived pleasure from reading comments posted below the uploaded pictures. The couple, originally from Vellore in Tamil Nadu, knew each other since they were in 10th grade and were planning to get married. The woman, along with Sanjay Kumar, filed a complaint with the police after discovering that someone had uploaded her private pictures on platforms like Telegram and Instagram. Following the complaint, a case was registered under section 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code and other relevant sections of the Information Technology Act. The investigators approached the social media platforms to take down the photos and also requested details of the alleged account holder who uploaded them. However, during the investigation, it was revealed that it was actually her boyfriend who had posted the pictures. The accused was arrested and he confessed to the crime during interrogation.
