CEO for X, Linda Yaccarino confirmed that the company is losing daily active users during an interview at Vox Media’s Code 2023 event. She mentioned that she has been on the job at X for 12 weeks and revealed that the decline in daily active users started after Elon Musk took over.

According to Yaccarino, the company currently has 225 million daily active users, which is a decrease of tens of millions or 11.6% of users since Musk acquired the company. Last year, Musk shared that Twitter had 254.5 million daily active users the week before his takeover.

However, according to The Information, X revised its daily active user count to 245 million. Yaccarino previously mentioned that X had “200 to 250 million” daily active users. Mashable reports that the company is losing around 3.7% of daily active users compared to before Musk’s acquisition, with X losing nearly 15 million users or roughly 5.6%.

Yaccarino tried to shift the focus during the interview, mentioning that X has 200 to 250 million daily active users and 550 million monthly active users. She also stated that X is expected to be profitable in 2024 and claimed that 90% of the top 100 advertisers have returned to the platform in the last 12 weeks.

It remains unclear how much monthly active user growth has occurred under Musk’s leadership.
