The Congress has dismissed claims of divisions within the party regarding the CWC resolution on Hamas and reminded the BJP of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s support for the Palestinian people. The BJP had criticized the Congress for not mentioning the terror attack on Israel in the resolution. Congress deputy leader in the Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, stated that there were no differences within the party and that the resolution favored a dialogue-based resolution to the Palestine issue. Gogoi accused the BJP of trying to divert attention from the party’s internal disputes over poll ticket distribution. He emphasized the Congress’s concern for the safety of Indian citizens in Israel and Gaza. Gogoi referred to senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh’s explanation of the party’s position on the matter. He added that the BJP was facing internal unrest after revealing its poll candidates in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh, and was now attempting to distract the public with such issues. Gogoi urged BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargia to remember Vajpayee’s speech and consider its significance. Meanwhile, Vijayvargia criticized the Congress’s resolution, accusing them of going against national policy and interests. The Congress resolution expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and reiterated its support for the rights of the Palestinian people and the need for an immediate ceasefire and negotiations on outstanding issues.
