At least 49 people were killed in a Russian rocket strike on a grocery store and cafe in Ukraine’s eastern region of Kharkiv, according to Ukrainian officials. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack as a “deliberate terrorist attack” and described it as a brutal Russian crime. The strike occurred in the Kupiansk district, which is located on the border with Russia and has been heavily contested by both sides. Rescue workers are currently at the scene, and images posted by Zelensky show the devastating aftermath of the attack. The head of the Kharkiv region reported that a 6-year-old boy was among the casualties, while another child was injured. The village of Groza, where the strike took place, had a pre-war population of around 500 people.
