Instructions have been issued to officials to investigate the fire incident in Goregaon, Mumbai, which resulted in the deaths of eight people, according to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He expressed his sadness over the incident and stated that he has been in contact with the Police Commissioner and Mahapalika Commissioner. Shinde visited the injured in the hospital and assured that they are receiving proper treatment. He also announced a fire audit of all Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) buildings and the appointment of an officer for the survey. The fire broke out in the Jay Bhavani building in Goregaon in the early hours of Friday, causing eight fatalities. Shinde stated that the government will provide a monetary assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased and will also cover the medical expenses of the injured. Actor Manish Chaturvedi, who witnessed the incident, criticized the delayed response from the fire brigade. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh for the families of the victims and Rs 50,000 for the injured.
