IT companies have faced significant cost-cutting measures this year, resulting in mass layoffs and uncertainty for employees. One such company, Meta, has recently been highlighted by a former employee who has been struggling to find a new job for over 200 days. Susan Dutter, a former Technical Recruiter at Facebook, took to LinkedIn to share her experience and express her hopes of finding a new role soon.
In her post, Dutter emphasized the challenges of sustaining one’s life without employment for six months or more and the terrifying uncertainty of not knowing how long this situation will last. Despite her 20+ years of impactful recruiting experience, she remains hopeful for her next opportunity and expressed missing the collaborative aspects of work.
Dutter also reached out to her LinkedIn network for assistance in finding a job, concluding her post with gratitude and hope for a brighter future. Meanwhile, Meta has announced plans for further layoffs in its Reality Labs division, aimed at creating custom silicon.
The company has already cut around 21,000 jobs since November 2022, as it tries to address concerns over revenue growth, high inflation, and the financial performance of its Reality Labs division. While CEO Mark Zuckerberg previously stated that the majority of this year’s layoffs would occur in the spring, he acknowledged that some changes may extend into the end of the year.
