Gaza City: Hamas, the Palestinian militant group that controls the Gaza Strip, released a video on Saturday showing its fighters capturing three men dressed in civilian clothes. The video, titled “Scenes of Al-Qassam Brigades capturing a number of enemy soldiers in the battle of Al-Aqsa Flood,” starts with a sentence appearing on a black background. Signs in Hebrew in the background indicated that the footage was filmed on the Israeli side of the Erez crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip.
Additional videos circulating on social media showed the bodies of several individuals in military attire, as well as deceased motorists and passengers on a highway. However, the authenticity of the footage has yet to be independently verified by AFP.
According to Israel’s Magen David Adom emergency medical services, 22 people were killed in the country after Palestinian militants crossed from Gaza. In response, Israel launched airstrikes and militants fired thousands of rockets towards Israel.
There has been no official confirmation from Gaza health officials regarding reports of multiple Palestinians being killed within the territory. Since Hamas took control in 2007, Israel has maintained a devastating blockade on Gaza and has engaged in multiple wars against militants.
