India is aiming for its best-ever medal haul at the 2023 Asian Games, with hopes of surpassing its previous record of 70 medals achieved in 2018. Indian athletes are competing in various events, such as men’s javelin throw, women’s boxing, men’s and women’s 4x400m relays, 5000m run, men’s hockey, squash, and badminton. Neeraj Chopra, the world champion in men’s javelin throw, will defend his gold medal, while Lovlina Borgohain will compete in the women’s 75kg boxing final. The Indian men’s hockey team will face South Korea in the semifinal. The archery team also had a promising start, with Jyothi Surekha Vennam and Ojas Deotale reaching the compound mixed team semifinals. An update on the race walk event showed Indian participants Ram Baboo and Manju Rani in fifth and sixth positions, aiming for a spot on the podium. In addition, India’s kabaddi team will be facing Thailand in their second group match.
