Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant has ordered a “complete siege” on the Gaza Strip as the military continues to carry out air strikes in the Palestinian territory. In a video message, Gallant stated that there would be no access to electricity, food, water, or gas in Gaza. The enclave is home to an overcrowded population of 2.3 million people. The military action comes in response to an attack by Hamas terrorists, who crossed the border into southern Israel and killed at least 700 people. Israeli security forces have since been engaged in combat with the militants. Additionally, an organization involved in body recovery has reported that approximately 250 people were killed by Hamas gunmen at a nearby music festival attended by young Israelis and foreigners. Gallant referred to Hamas members as “animals” and stated that Israel would act accordingly. The Gaza Strip has also suffered casualties, with at least 493 people killed in Israeli air strikes.
