Doctors at a hospital in Punjab’s Moga were shocked to find earphones, lockets, screws, and even rakhis inside a patient’s stomach. The 40-year-old man had been suffering from stomach pain and high fever for years and had recently complained of nausea. To determine the cause of his pain, doctors conducted an X-ray scan which revealed multiple metal objects lodged in his stomach. After a three-hour surgery, the doctors successfully removed nearly a hundred items, including earphones, washers, nuts and bolts, wires, rakhis, lockets, buttons, wrappers, hairclips, a zipper tag, a marble, and a safety pin.

Dr. Ajmer Kalra, the hospital’s director, stated that this was the first case of its kind that he had encountered. The man had been suffering from stomach issues for two years, and although the items were removed, his condition remains unstable. The prolonged presence of the foreign objects has caused additional health issues for the patient.

The man’s family expressed their surprise and ignorance regarding when and why he consumed these items. They claimed that he suffered from mental illnesses and had complained of stomach pain and insomnia prior to being hospitalized. Despite consulting several doctors, the cause of his pain remained undiagnosed.
