The Indian Navy is set to hold a seminar on October 4 and 5 at Bharat Mandapam in Pragati Maidan to showcase a variety of India-made technologies. The seminar, called Swavlamban, is expected to be attended by officials from over 50 countries. Here are five key highlights of the event:
1. Underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV): The Navy will display a tethered underwater vehicle equipped with a robotic arm and offering six degrees of freedom. This ROV will be capable of performing various tasks, including hull inspection.
2. Underwater Vision System: With the help of artificial intelligence, an advanced camera harness will provide clear pictures of the underwater environment, according to the Navy.
3. 75 Home-Grown Technologies: The seminar will also feature 75 indigenous technologies, such as underwater swarm drones, autonomous weaponized boat swarms, and fire-fighting systems.
4. Second Edition of the Seminar: This is the annual event’s second edition, with the aim of engaging the Indian industry and academia in achieving self-reliance in the defense sector. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to attend the Swavlamban seminar.
5. Development of New Products: The Navy has initiated the “Sprint” program, encouraging the development of new products. This initiative was launched at the Naval Innovation and Indignation Organization (NIIO) Seminar in July last year.
The Indian Navy’s Swavlamban seminar serves as a platform to showcase and promote indigenous technologies, fostering innovation and self-reliance in the defense sector.
