An FIR has been filed against a publisher for allegedly including a “photo” of Prophet Mohammed in a Class four textbook, leading to protests in Hyderabad. The textbook was distributed in a private school and the depiction of the Prophet has offended certain individuals. A complaint has been made to the police, stating that the inclusion of the “picture” has hurt the sentiments of Muslims, as visual representations of the Prophet are prohibited in Islam. The publisher and the school management have been charged under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code, including promoting enmity between religious groups and criminal conspiracy. The Majlis Bachao Tahreek (MBT), a political party in Telangana, has also condemned the act and demanded action against those responsible.
