A woman deputy collector in Madhya Pradesh was arrested for disrupting peace during her foot march seeking “justice” and urging the government to accept her resignation. Nisha Bangre, the deputy collector of Chhatarpur district, started her march from Betul district on September 28 and arrived in Bhopal on Monday evening. She was arrested after the participants of the march started moving towards the Chief Minister’s residence. Ms. Bangre had tendered her resignation in June, but the state government has not accepted it yet. Elections for the Madhya Pradesh assembly will be held on November 17, and vote counting will take place on December 3.
