Several people were injured today in Bhopal when a tin roof collapsed while they were watching an air show. Many individuals had climbed onto the roof of a shop to get a better view of the aircraft participating in the show. The shop itself was surrounded by people eagerly waiting to catch a glimpse of the event. The air show, held to commemorate the 91st anniversary of the Air Force, took place over Bhojtal Lake in Madhya Pradesh’s capital city. Prior to the show’s commencement at 10 AM, a large crowd had already gathered at the venue. Thousands of people from Bhopal and neighboring districts flooded the streets to witness the spectacle. Traffic was restricted around the Boat Club area, and alternate arrangements were made along VIP Road for public convenience. However, the massive turnout overwhelmed the traffic diversion plans and routes, resulting in significant congestion before and after the show. Chief Minister Shivraj Chouhan and Governor Mangubhai Patel attended the main event. Among the jets that performed breathtaking aerobatics over the lake were the CH-47F (I) Chinook helicopters of the Air Force. Air Force Day, which commemorates the official establishment of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in 1932, is celebrated annually in the presence of the IAF chief and senior officers.
