A video has emerged on social media showing a girl’s hair getting stuck in a Ferris wheel at a local fair in Gujarat. The incident took place in Khambhalia town in Devbhoomi Dwarka district during Ganesh Chaturthi. The girl, who had her hair open, screamed as her hair got tangled in one of the wheel’s masts after just two rotations. The ride was immediately stopped and other people were evacuated upon hearing her cries.
In the video, several people climbed up to rescue her. One person held her head while another used a knife to cut her hair. Onlookers watched the horrifying incident, some recording it on their mobile phones. The exact date of the incident is unknown.

After watching the video, many expressed horror and hoped that the girl was unharmed. Some advised people to be careful and suggested that women should tie their hair properly to avoid similar incidents. Concerns were raised about the safety of such rides in India, with calls for precautionary measures to prevent such occurrences.
One user shared a personal experience, stating that they had been in a similar dangerous situation a few months ago and had to cut their hair to free themselves.
Another user warned against sitting on such swings with open hair, explaining that when the swing comes down, the hair flies up and can get entangled.
A third user commented that this incident unlocked a new fear for them.
In a separate incident last month, a 55-year-old woman died and her daughter-in-law and grandson were injured after falling off a Ferris wheel at a fairground in Noida. The fair organizer and the ride operator were taken into custody.
