At least 8 persons were killed and many injured when a tourist bus fell into a gorge in a hilly district near Tamil Nadu, according to the police. Among the victims were four women and a minor boy. Chief Minister M K Stalin expressed his condolences and announced cash relief for the families of the victims. The victims were from Kadayam in Tenkasi district and were returning home when the incident occurred. The bus lost control and fell into the gorge, prompting locals, police, and fire and rescue services to rush to help and rescue the injured. The bus toppled upon impact, and rescue workers used ropes to reach the passengers. Most of the injured individuals have been taken to nearby Coimbatore for medical treatment. Chief Minister Stalin expressed concerns over the accident and announced financial aid for the victims and those with serious injuries. He also directed special treatment for the injured and assigned Tourism Minister K Ramachandran to oversee the rescue efforts. The district administration has set up phone lines for information about the accident.
