Elon Musk’s X Corp is taking legal action against Atlas Exploration, a financial services company, in an attempt to recover over $713,500 in allegedly overdue rent and other fees. X Corp, formerly known as Twitter, filed a complaint in San Francisco Superior Court, claiming breach of contract.

The lawsuit states that X and Atlas had a sublease agreement for office space located at 650 California Street in San Francisco’s financial district since April 2021. However, Atlas attempted to terminate the sublease early last year.

X Corp alleges that Atlas owes them more than $340,263 in unpaid rent for the months of September to November in 2020. Additionally, X claims that Atlas has failed to pay any early termination fees.

Kevin Hill, an attorney representing Atlas, did not offer immediate comment on the matter. In April, Hill had written a letter to X, stating that they believed X was unfairly demanding rent for months in which Atlas had already made payments on its new office space.

This legal action adds to the series of lawsuits faced by X Corp regarding unpaid rent and other financial obligations following Elon Musk’s $44 billion buyout in October last year. X is currently disputing over $3.1 million in unpaid rent in a separate case filed by the owner of their main office at 1355 Market Street in San Francisco. The company also faces claims of unpaid rent from Britain’s Crown Estate, over its London headquarters.

In addition to these financial battles, X Corp is also facing multiple employee lawsuits that challenge terminations, unpaid severance, and other benefits. Jonathan Hawk, a lawyer representing X, has not responded to requests for comment at this time. X’s representative has also refrained from providing immediate comment on the matter.

The case between X Corp and Atlas Exploration Inc will be heard in San Francisco Superior Court, with the case number CGC-23-609391.
