Legendary India captain and wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni has been spotted displaying his tennis skills in a couple of viral videos on social media. Fans have been amazed by Dhoni’s talent in a sport that is quite different from cricket, as well as his muscular physique. While Dhoni is widely recognized as one of the greatest cricketers, his love for tennis is also well-known.
Dhoni’s influence on the next generation of cricketers continues, even after retiring from international cricket in August 2020. As arguably India’s greatest-ever captain, he led the team to three major ICC triumphs – the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy. Dhoni holds the record for leading India in the highest number of matches, with 332 games under his captaincy. Out of these, he won 178 matches, lost 120, tied six, and had 15 no-results, boasting a win percentage of 53.61. This, combined with his trophy haul, makes him India’s most successful captain to date.
Dhoni’s success as a captain did not hinder his performance as a player. In those 332 matches, he scored 11,207 runs in 330 innings at an impressive average of 46.89 and a strike rate of over 76. He recorded 11 centuries and 71 fifties as a captain, with a highest score of 224.
His success at the international level extended to franchise cricket as well. Dhoni represented and led the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With CSK, he clinched five IPL titles in 2010, 2011, 2018, 2021, and 2023, and also won two Champions League T20 titles in 2010 and 2014.
Despite his remarkable achievements, Dhoni remains grounded both on and off the field, continuing to inspire the upcoming generation of cricketers with his sporting prowess and humble demeanor.
