India batsman Virat Kohli left fans in splits with his hilarious run in the nets during a training session prior to India’s opening match against Australia in the Cricket World Cup 2023. Kohli’s funny run reminded fans of a similar incident during the Asia Cup 2023 Super 4 match against Bangladesh, where he served as the ‘water boy’. Kohli also had some fun with teammate Jasprit Bumrah during the net session, with Shardul Thakur and Mohammed Shami also seen in the video.
In another training session, Suryakumar Yadav had an intensive two and a half-hour hit at the Chepauk stadium, while skipper Rohit Sharma watched and provided guidance to Shreyas Iyer on playing short balls. Sharma, known for his expertise in horizontal bat shots, demonstrated the execution of deliveries below and above the eye-line.
Meanwhile, Yadav showcased his T20 shots, including the use of supple wrists to play shots behind the square. As left-arm throwdown expert Nuwan Seneviratne challenged him with fast deliveries, Yadav displayed his ‘Supla’ shots. His weakness in ODI cricket has been dealing with straight, length deliveries, so he focused on practicing range hitting straight down the ground.
On the other hand, Ishan Kishan had a tough time facing deliveries from Jasprit Bumrah in the nets. Bumrah’s pace proved difficult for most of the players, but Kishan appeared the least comfortable. Additionally, he struggled while facing throwdowns and Mohammed Shami’s full-length deliveries. However, if Kishan performs well in the match against Australia, his training session struggles will be forgotten.
