The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released footage today showing an elite unit rescuing over 250 hostages near the Gaza security fence. The IDF’s “Shayetet 13” unit stormed the Sufa outpost, resulting in the neutralization of 60 Hamas terrorists and the apprehension of 26 others, including Muhammad Abu A’ali, the Deputy Commander of the Hamas southern Naval Division.
The video shows Israeli soldiers entering the building, with gunshots audible in the background. One soldier fires from behind cover, while another throws a grenade at the outpost. A soldier can be heard saying, “Shayetet, Shayetet, stay in the bunker, we’re coming!” The Shayetet 13 forces swiftly responded to reports of the breach at the Gaza border on Saturday morning and joined forces with soldiers on the ground for a joint operation. The forces engaged in combat in the surrounding communities and at sea simultaneously.
Throughout the video, soldiers can be seen scanning the premises, escorting hostages out of the bunker, and providing reassurance to the hostages that they are there to save them and offer any necessary first aid. The footage also shows soldiers carrying a stretcher.
This marks the seventh day of the ongoing Israel-Hamas war, with no peace proposals currently on the table. The death toll stands at over 1,200 in Israel and another 1,400 in the Gaza Strip since the start of the conflict. The Israeli government claims to have discovered the bodies of 1,500 Hamas operatives within Israeli territory.
The IDF deployed the unit to the area surrounding the Gaza security fence in a joint effort to regain control of the Sufa military post on October 7.
