Israel’s Defence Forces (IDF) stated that they will continue their decisive actions against Hamas, who launched a rocket attack on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of 1,200 Israelis. The IDF also alleged that Hamas has taken hostages and is carrying out executions. IDF spokesperson Jonathan Conricus said, “There were reports of babies being executed. It’s hard to believe that even Hamas could commit such barbaric acts… But with eyewitness testimonies and accounts from senior officials, we can now say with confidence that this is what Hamas is doing.” Conricus claimed that women and children are being handcuffed and executed by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. He further added, “After Israeli troops entered the area, they witnessed scenes resembling a zombie movie.”
Meanwhile, Israel has launched airstrikes on Hamas targets in the densely populated Gaza Strip, home to 2.3 million people, in response to the surprise attack by militants. The IDF claims that Hamas has an underground network of tunnels and bunkers, which Israel intends to target. Conricus stated that Israeli airstrikes are focused on disabling the tunnel network.
In addition to the conflict with Hamas, Israel is also monitoring the situation in Lebanon. Air-raid sirens were activated in northern Israel, and residents were instructed to seek shelter in bomb shelters. However, authorities later confirmed that reports of an “airspace intrusion” from Lebanon were false alarms. Israelis remain on high alert amid concerns that Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon may intensify attacks following the recent deadly strikes launched by Hamas from Gaza.
