The India-Pakistan cricket clash at the 2023 World Cup is highly anticipated, with both teams feeling the pressure to perform well. Pakistan captain Babar Azam, however, believes that the pressure of obtaining match tickets surpasses the pressure of the match itself. Both teams have a perfect record in the tournament so far, and their rivalry is expected to bring forth a competitive encounter.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Babar stated, “There is more pressure for match tickets than the match itself. It is not a pressure match for us. We have played each other many times. We received great support in Hyderabad, and we hope for the same in Ahmedabad. Our focus is on performing well as a team, both in batting and bowling. The margin of error for bowlers is minimal in these conditions.”
Babar also emphasized the importance of experience in helping players perform better under pressure. He stated, “When I was younger, I used to get nervous, but there are seniors in the team who help you out.” Despite Pakistan’s history of never defeating India in the ODI World Cup, Babar believes that the past is not important and the team needs to focus on the present.
“We want to live in the present. I think we can do well. The India-Pakistan match is high-intensity. We believe in ourselves and there are a lot of fans coming. We have an opportunity to perform well in front of our fans,” Babar expressed. He also acknowledged the challenges of playing in different pitch conditions throughout the match and emphasized the team’s planning accordingly.
Babar mentioned Pakistan’s victory against India in the T20I World Cup and expressed confidence in repeating the same in the ODI World Cup at Ahmedabad. He acknowledged his own lack of scoring in the tournament thus far and hoped to change that. Babar emphasized the significance of fielding and stated, “You need to field well if you want to do well in the World Cup. We are working on it. Fielding is about attitude.”
The article also provides details about the India and Pakistan squads for the match. India’s squad includes Rohit Sharma (captain), Hardik Pandya (vice-captain), and other notable players. Pakistan’s squad is led by Babar Azam and features players like Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Rizwan.
