The British royal family has expressed support for Israel after the recent attacks by Hamas, which resulted in the deaths of over 1,000 civilians. Prince William and Kate Middleton issued a joint statement condemning Hamas’ violent actions. The King and other members of the royal family have also denounced the attacks.
The King was “appalled” and condemned the “barbaric acts of terrorism in Israel,” according to sources from the Palace, as reported by the BBC. The Prince and Princess of Wales are deeply distressed by the events and believe that both Israelis and Palestinians will experience grief, fear, and anger.
In a statement shared on X (formerly known as Twitter), a spokesperson for the Prince and Princess of Wales stated, “The horrors inflicted by Hamas’s terrorist attack upon Israel are appalling; they utterly condemn them.” The statement expressed their solidarity with the victims and their families.
Israeli forces reported that approximately 1,200 people, mostly civilians, lost their lives in the Hamas attack, making it the deadliest in the country’s history. In response, Israel targeted Hamas in the Gaza Strip, leading to further casualties, including a significant number of civilians, according to Palestinian authorities. The United Nations estimates that over 338,000 people in the enclave have been displaced.
