Neeraj Chopra’s first throw at the Asian Games 2023 was not counted due to a technical glitch during the men’s javelin event. Neeraj appeared to have easily surpassed the 85m mark with a massive throw on his first attempt. However, event organizers were unable to measure the throw accurately, leading to confusion. As a result, Neeraj was asked to retake the throw. His first official attempt measured 82.38m, and he followed it up with an even better throw of 84.49m.

The Asian Games has been marred by controversies, with Jyothi Yarraji initially disqualified in the women’s 110m hurdles. However, her bronze medal was later upgraded to silver.

In other events, India’s Harmilan Bains secured a silver medal in the women’s 800m race, her second medal at the Asian Games 2023. She completed the race in an impressive time of 2:03.75. Tharushi Dissanayaka from Sri Lanka won the gold with a time of 2:03.20, while China’s Chunyu Wang took the bronze with a time of 2:03.90.

Bains had previously won a silver medal in the women’s 1500m race at the Games. Another Indian runner, Chanda, finished seventh in the 800m race with a timing of 2:05.69.

These developments have added drama to the ongoing competition.
